Here are several essential self-improvement tools for achieving success in life. Understanding each tool mechanism is crucial; to assist with this, I’ve included some questions for self-reflection. I’ve also included a scripture for each one to better understand the Word. If you require assistance defining these terms, please visit the “Glossary.”
Self-Awareness
It all starts with being aware! Do you know yourself? Are you aware of your likes and dislikes, strengths and weakness? What are your values and beliefs? Are you aware of your feelings? Are you picking up the feelings of someone else? What makes you think this way? Are you aware of your surroundings? What do you hear, see, smell, or feel?
“Keep a close watch on yourself and what you’re teaching. Stay true to what is right and God will save you and those who hear you.”
1 Timothy 4:16
Self-Love
It’s all about love! Do you love yourself entirely? Do you love the pretty and ugly, the good and bad? Have you accepted the things about yourself that you don’t love? Do you love yourself even when others don’t love you? Do you speak positive or negative things about yourself?
“Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Love is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
It always protects, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never Fails,”
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Self-Confidence
It’s essential to have confidence! Do you believe you can rely on your judgment? Do you need someone else to inform you to trust it? What are you afraid of? Are you okay with your vision being misunderstood? Are you confident about who you are? Do you feel secure enough to do what you want?
“Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not fear:
though war break out against me,
I will remain confident.”
Psalms 27:3
Self-Control & Self-Discipline
Its formula is to have control, and its muscle is discipline! Do you have the ability to control yourself to be disciplined? Can you control yourself? Do you have control over your feelings, or do your emotions control you? Can you stay focused on your goals? Are you motivated to do what you need to do when you need to do it? Are you easily distracted? Can someone come and change your mind?
“So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”
1 Corinthians 9:25-27
You have the power within you! It’s perfectly fine not to have all the answers. As you continue on your journey, you’ll uncover more knowledge. Visit my “Blog” page for the latest blog posts.
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and Self-Discipline.”
-2 Timothy 1:7
I love this blog, it really makes you think about your self as you work through your own life and how you’re feeling about yourself!!! Sometimes it’s okay to not like what bad, but are you willing to accept it or fix it? That is the question.
Thank you! The intention is for readers to evaluate their own lives. Remember, life is what you make it. In my blog post titled “Who Are You,” I delve into the importance of accepting your present reality.
This was yet another great read. This reminds me of what I was reading in my psychology class about emotional intelligence. Being self aware, having self control and discipline are good tools to work on. Thanks for your motivation.
You’re welcome! I appreciate your feedback 🙂
This made me really look a lot of thing different in my life. I really miss talking to you everyday I wish you nothing but luck on ya journey..
I aim to encourage readers to self-evaluate, so I’m pleased this purpose has been achieved. I also miss our conversations and hope these blogs can be a good substitute while I’m on my journey. I love you <3
