Who Are You?

Accepting who you are is the beginning of the journey. Me jumping in Joy, The background is the beach and ocean on a sunny day.
“To Embrace your life fully, you must first accept your present reality.” – The Real Dai.

Healing is about loving your worst version of yourself while becoming your best version. Accepting who you are is essential, even if you’re unhappy with this version of yourself. The good thing about life is the only thing consistent is change, so with that being said, you can always choose to become who you want to be. So, Who are you?

“Only when you do not know yourself, the opinion of other people becomes important”

-Sadhguru

Who Are You?

What is your answer when someone asks you, “Who are you?” Do you reply with your name? Or do you go deeper to define yourself? I’ve realized that most of us only know ourselves by our names or what someone else told us about ourselves. Do you know who you are at a core level?

My Experience

Life has taken me on a rollercoaster ride. Sometimes, I felt like I knew myself and what I wanted out of life. And sometimes, I wasn’t sure who I was or what was my life’s purpose. But through this Self-Love journey, I’ve discovered myself more. So I want to share some questions that can help you become more aware of who you are.

As I mentioned, when you know yourself, you know who you are at a core level, and you can answer the following questions about yourself in this poem.

“Who are you!?”
Do you define yourself by your name?
Or do you go deeper to define,
Who You Are!?
Are you the voices in your head?
Or do you identify yourself by your actions?
Who are you!?
Do you know what your limits are?
Or, Do you even have any?
Who are you!?
What are your strengths?
And, what are your weaknesses?
Who are you!?
What are your values? But,
Most importantly,
What is your answer when someone asks,
Who are you!?
-The Real Dai

Inspiration

Did you answer most or all of the questions in the poem? It’s okay if not. But, if you want to go deeper, you can answer these questions I formed from “The Happiness Trap: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living” by Russ Harris.

  • Who is the person that you want to be?
  • How do you connect with what you truly values? Do you know what you truly value?
  • What type of relationship would you like to have with yourself and others?
  • What you’re doing now, does it help create a rich, full, and meaningful life in the long term?

You need to know who you are! When you know yourself, you’re able to think for yourself. You know what you want and what you don’t want. You’re not looking for others to tell you what you want or what to do to make you happy.

When you don’t know who you are, you live based on the perspectives of others and start letting others dictate your life. So it would help to have the autonomy to decide who you want to be.

Autonomy is the ability to decide what to do rather than being influenced by someone else or told what to do.

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind. “

-Dr.Seuss

Don’t allow what you do to become who you are. Most importantly, be mindful of what you’re doing at all times.
